The Making of Memory

Crochet Doilies, Fabric Stiffener, Fishing Line and Wire

This piece took over 100 hours to make and was a true labor of love. There were many hiccups during the build and I felt it important to document the entire process including the most intimate moments of failure and frustration.

Memory is its namesake, this is a specific moment in my life. A moment in which I thought my world was ending and I couldn’t process the potential of my future. However over time I have come to realize that this moment is what set me free and push me to be where I am today, making art and living in my favorite city.

Leg Test - This is me figuring out how I was going to structurally make Memory and test the fabric stiffener.

Making the Mold. - Masking Tape, Plastic Wrap and Plaster of Paris.

Thank you to Randi Loebig and Alison Migas for assisting me during this step.

The Making of Human Heroin

Hand Woven from Wire, Cotton String and Fishing Line.

We all have that one person who is more than toxic for us but we will always love and we hope that they’ll change and live up to their empty promises but they never do. The one who when they say your name your heart flutters, the one who all of your family and friends hate. This will be a physical representation of that feeling when they say your name, when you see a notification from them and when you finally cave and see them ‘just one last time’.
